Goran Dragic went to play basketball for the Miami Heat. He is joining a cast of players who are competing for the playoffs and this will be exciting for Heat basketball. Both Dragic brothers, Zoran and Goran will try and make Miami ball fun to watch with Luol Deng and Dwyane Wade, because the Heat are winning games without Lebron James, who left them and returned to Cleveland. The Phoenix Suns are in rebuilding mode, sort of, without Dragic by acquiring John Salmons and Danny Granger as well as some draft picks. In this deal also as the Suns, Heat, and Pelicans shake up their teams, New Orleans gets Norris Cole, Justin Hamilton, and Shawne Williams. The Pelicans get three good rotation players who can box out, shoot, and play defense.
The Pistons are making Reggie Jackson, an ex-Thunder, their starting point guard there. Will Jackson be able to survive the starting duties in Michigan? Oklahoma City gets Enes Kanter and Steve Novak from Utah, D.J. Augustin and Kyle Singler from Detroit and the Utah Jazz got Kendrick Perkins from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Grant Jerrett from Detroit, a second round draft pick from Detroit, and a future first round draft pick from the Thunder. Perkins wants to join a championship contender and did so by joining Lebron James in Cleveland so he can help his former arch-rival win an NBA title.
The Phoenix Suns get Brandon Knight from the Bucks and Kendall Marshall from the Lakers. The Milwaukee Bucks get Michael Carter Williams and Tyler Ennis and Miles Plumlee from the Sixers and Lakers. The Sixers get a 2015 draft pick from the Lakers.
The Portland Trail Blazers acquired Arron Affalo and Alonso Gee from the Orlando Magic and Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets acquire Will Barton, Victor Claver, and Thomas Robinson as well as a 2016 draft pick. The Nuggets are indeed rebuilding and they fired their coach, Brian Shaw, because they are obviously having chemistry problems there because Shaw has tried to relate to his players to no avail.
The Timberwolves need a veteran presence, so they get back Kevin Garnett, whom they acquired from Brooklyn and sent Thaddeus Young to the Nets. Garnett will mentor the younger Wolves players as they rebuild and Young will try to make Brooklyn a contender in the East. This is a good trade for Young, because it will help boost his confidence of leading a team.
The Houston Rockets acquired K.J. McDaniels from the Sixers and sent Isaiah Canaan to Philadelphia. The Rockets and the Cavaliers, the Mavericks and the Clippers are forming superteams. With the Rockets, you have Josh Smith, Dwight Howard, James Harden, and Jason Terry and on the Cavs, you have Lebron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, Perkins, Timofey Mozgov, James Jones, Mike Miller, and the Mavericks have now Amare Stoudemire to a lineup with Rajon Rondo, Dirk Nowitzki, Tyson Chandler, Chandler Parsons, and Monta Ellis and the Clippers are solid with Chris Paul, Jamal Crawford, J.J. Redick, DeAndre Jordan, Blake Griffin, and Matt Barnes.
The Sacramento Kings get Andre Miller and the Wizards get Ramon Sessions. Newly signed coach George Karl wants Miller to mentor DeMarcus Cousins and in Washington, Sessions will backup John Wall for playing time. The Pistons get back Tayshaun Prince with Detroit where it all starts and the Celtics get Jonas Jerebko and Gigi Datome. Prince is helping the Pistons make a surge for the playoffs. The Knicks send Pablo Prigioni to the Rockets for Alexey Shved and second rounddraft picks in 2017 and 2019. The Nuggets sent Javale McGee to the Sixers, whom Philadelphia later sent home without pay. The Wolves trade Mo Williams to the Hornets. The Timberwolves get Gary Neal and Troy Daniels and a 2019 second round draft pick. The Hawks send Adreian Paine to Minnesota and in return, they get a future first round draft pick. The Clippers got Austin Rivers, the Suns get Reggie Bullock, and the Celtics get Chris Douglas-Roberts, Shavlik Randolph, and a 2017 second round draft pick. The Boston Celtics get Nate Robinson a deal that sends Jameer Nelson to the Denver Nuggets. Don’t expect Robinson to stay, expect him to go to a NBA contender. Jeff Green is getting his opportunity in Memphis playing for a team that is big on grit and grind. The Phoenix Suns acquire Brandan Wright and the Celtics get a first round draft pick. The Cavs got their big man in Timofey Mozgov and gave the Nuggets two protected first round draft picks. Cleveland traded Dion Waiters to the Thunder as the Cavs got J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert from New York and the Knicks get Lou Amundson and Alex Kirk and a first round draft pick for 2015 and a 2019 second round pick.
