Deron Williams signed to play with Lebron James and traded for Kyle Korver from Atlanta. The question is, will they play better with two new acquisitions? Only thirty games left into the NBA regular season and we have yet seen stand out games from Korver or Williams.
The Atlanta Hawks signed Dwight Howard. This is huge for the organization. Not only do they upgrade, but they get him to play for his hometown Atlanta. The Hawks have a center in the middle who will maintain a presence, both offensively and defensively, in the middle.
Kevin Durant is being courted by several NBA teams and one only wonders where he’ll go. Will he make Golden State a better offensive team?
Serge Ibaka was traded to the Orlando Magic on Draft Day. It’s clear that Oklahoma City is rebuilding. What happens to Russell Westbrook?
Luol Deng has signed a deal to play for the L.A. Lakers. Puzzling move for the Lakers organization.
The Atlanta Hawks have been swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-99 and marks the second time that these Hawks have been eliminated by a Lebron James-led basketball team for a second straight time. Atlanta is built for playing a certain pace in basketball, however they were not meant to play at a superstar’s pace like Lebron James. Toronto and Miami are tied at two games apiece and Kyle Lowry has to have big games against Dwyane Wade. Lowry in the clutch will overcome Wade’s shooting performances, I guarantee it. Wade does shoot clutch, but Lowry relies on his spacing to get off his shot. The Golden State Warriors welcome back Stephen Curry, as the Dubs beat the Portland Trail Blazers in overtime to take a 3 games to 1 series lead. As the NBA playoffs winds down to the final four, OKC wins Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead against San Antonio. I can see a Warriors-Cavs NBA Finals matchup shaping up.
The Atlanta Hawks beat the Boston Celtics in Game 6, 104-92 and advance to meet the Cleveland Cavaliers in the East semi-finals. In the West, the San Antonio Spurs along with two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard will meet Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder. I think that the Warriors, despite losing Stephen Curry to injury, might be able to handle winning more games in the playoffs, because they play together as a team and also as a cohesive unit bonding together for a purpose. Shaun Livingston has been able to fill in for Curry as the point guard, contributing points, defense, passing, and complimentary fill in for a two-time Most Valuable Player. The Clippers in Los Angeles has suffered injuries to Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Much has surpassed the times if the Clippers are able to get by the Portland Trail Blazers now. It looks like now Portland might get by the Clippers and meet the defending NBA champs Golden State Warriors in the second round of the Western Conference.
The Boston Celtics, behind Isaiah Thomas’s 42 points, have won Game 3 in Boston to cut the Atlanta Hawks’ deficit to 2-1 series lead. Also, Stephen Curry didn’t play in Game 3 and although the Warriors were lacking in having a point guard who could dribble and make shots, the Warriors made it close with Andre Iguodala and Klay Thompson scoring. The Cleveland Cavaliers are up 3-0 and are one game away from eliminating the Detroit Pistons. Though, the Cavs have Lebron James and could use another strong perimeter defender like James on the wing, I think that the Cavs could be unstoppable. The San Antonio Spurs are an well-oiled machine with fresher legs like Kawhi Leonard and Lamarcus Aldridge, who can put the ball in the basket with veterans like Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker lurking in the shadows. The Spurs are also up 3-0 on the Memphis Grizzlies and are one game away from eliminating the Grizzlies.
Stephen Curry scores 24 points and the Golden State Warriors beat the Sacramento Kings last night. The Kings were trying to pressure Curry to miss shots, thanks to Rajon Rondo’s pesky defense on Curry. It was to no avail. The Warriors recovered in time to seal the win. The Atlanta Hawks beat the Washington Wizards on this night also. Tiago Splitter has turned up with the Hawks and his defense and rebounding has sparked Atlanta. Also, the Houston Rockets beat the L.A. Clippers last night.
The Golden State Warriors are the 2015 NBA champions and they did it by beating Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers four times in a best of seven game series. Steve Kerr’s Warriors are the golden standard of playing basketball. If only our representatives at the U.S. Men’s National Basketball team at the Olympic Games could do that feat of what the Golden State Warriors did. 80% of life is showing up, and these Warriors did do that. The Cleveland Cavaliers resigned Kevin Love to a multi-year deal and the New Orleans Pelicans inked Anthony Davis to a five-year extension. The Toronto Raptors signed DeMarre Carroll away from the Atlanta Hawks for a four year, $60 million deal and the San Antonio Spurs signed Danny Green to a 45 million dollar deal for four years.
