Since last week, the Cavs are sucking in the air of being defeated as NBA champions and the Golden State Warriors are celebrating in Cleveland’s place. Kevin Durant is NBA Finals MVP and deservedly so, because he has been second-best his whole life. As of this moment, Durant is an NBA champion because he has averaged 30+ points in each NBA Finals game in 2017. Now, the trick is staying at the top. Can Golden State stay at the top as 2018 NBA Champions?
So the Golden State Warriors have a date with the Cleveland Cavaliers again. These two teams have been dominant since the first round of the 2017 NBA Playoffs. A lot of the pressure Kevin Durant is facing is returning back to the NBA Finals where he’s lost in 2013. Durant is facing pressure, because he has to perform at a high level to get an NBA ring. Will he be able to get an NBA ring? That’s what we’ll find out once the NBA Finals start. Lebron James is looking forward to another NBA championship and no one in the NBA has the answer in stopping him. Will Lebron James be able to maintain another NBA title? We’ll find out.
The Boston Celtics have home-court advantage throughout these NBA playoff games, but yet have shown that they can play with the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers. The San Antonio Spurs are good for an old-fashioned two points and just-put-up-a-basket basketball philosophy has them playing the up-tempo Golden State Warriors. The Warriors are 2-0 in their series against the Spurs and San Antonio doesn’t have the basketball personnel to play these Stephen Curry-led basketball team. What will the Spurs do if they can’t get back Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker, their two valued starters? The Spurs relied on Leonard having the basketball to dominate the ball game and the Spurs won’t play like a team until they realize they have to make shots in order to beat the Warriors. Boston won’t defeat Cleveland, because they don’t have a superstar like Lebron James who has unmatched athleticism.
I have not been sounding off on the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Although, these two NBA teams sound invincible, don’t be surprised if these two particular teams meet again in the 2017 NBA Finals. Cleveland might be able to get by Boston, if the Celtics beat the Washington Wizards in the East semi-finals. It will be a powerhouse match up if the Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics meet again. Don’t look hopeful, if the San Antonio Spurs can beat these star-studded Golden State Warriors, be prepared for a Spurs-Cavs showdown.
Are we heading for a Cavaliers-Warriors matchup in the NBA Finals? It’s only the first round and yet, the Cavaliers have swept the Indiana Pacers four games to none and the Golden State Warriors have also swept the Portland Trail Blazers four to zip. There’s nothing like sweeping the competition in the first round.
The Bulls have collapsed in Games 3 and 4 in Chicago. The Celtics have ignited the fire and now it’s 2-2. The Celtics and the Bulls will retool for Game 5 in Boston. Can I hear an encore for a fantastic Game 5 between the Bulls and the Celtics.
Deron Williams signed to play with Lebron James and traded for Kyle Korver from Atlanta. The question is, will they play better with two new acquisitions? Only thirty games left into the NBA regular season and we have yet seen stand out games from Korver or Williams.
2017 is upon us and we are almost approaching the halfway part of the season. With February looming, we will have an all star game. The Golden State Warriors are leading the NBA with wins and losses and it is hard to beat them when they have Kevin Durant. The Cleveland Cavaliers, who are the 2016 reigning champions, beat these newly formed Warriors with Kevin Durant 109-108 on Christmas Day on Kyrie Irving’s last minute shot.
