Raptors and Rockets hold onto No. 1 in East and West respectively

The Toronto Raptors and the Houston Rockets are currently in the number one spot for the Eastern and Western Conference respectively and that means they will have home court advantage throughout the NBA 2018 playoffs. Will either Toronto or Houston bring home the 2018 NBA trophy? We’ll find out.

NBA Conference Finals review

The Cleveland Cavaliers blew out the Toronto Raptors on their home floor for Game 5. The final scoreboard read 116-78. Cleveland had to show Toronto whose home court it is, since they lost two road games in Toronto with the series tied at 2 games apiece. Golden State won their Game 5 to avoid elimination by the score of 120-111 over the Oklahoma City Thunder. It was a terrific game with defense and scoring, as the game was close.

Toronto ties series 2-2

The Toronto Raptors can believe now. They are within 2 victories of the NBA Finals and they can help lead a franchise that has never won an NBA title. Behind Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, the Raptors have made sure they wouldn’t stay down before Lebron James and his Cavaliers. Back to Cleveland for Game 5. Will Toronto take advantage for a 3-2 series lead?

Raptors bounce back

The Toronto Raptors came back home for Game 3 to host the Cleveland Cavaliers. Boy, were they prepared. Behind Bismack Biyombo, their backup center, the Raptors showed Cleveland who’s boss. A Game 3 win sealed a 99-84 victory for these Raptors who’ve been down and out while Cleveland blew them out at home. Toronto won because Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan stepped up to lead the Toronto charge.

Lebron James shows Toronto who is King

Lebron James wanted Toronto to know that this is his throne and he wants the NBA title. By the end of the game, the score read 108-89 and that may mean futility for these Raptors if they can’t find an answer to beat the Cavaliers. It was a balanced effort for the Cavs as they led an offensive attack headed by James, Kevin Love, and Kyrie Irving. Cleveland is unstoppable when they get their scoring going. They will be dangerous to stop when they reach the 2016 NBA Finals.

NBA Conference Finals

Cleveland won Game 1 against the Toronto Raptors 115-84 in a thumping that showed that Lebron James won’t be denied another trip to the NBA Finals. James showed trust in his teammates Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love to make shots and make the right play and they did. In the Western Conference Finals, the Oklahoma City Thunder showed the Golden State Warriors who was making the big shots down the stretch. Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant showed the Dubs that they want the NBA title too. In the Thunder’s 108-102 Game 1 win, OKC wanted even more to show the Warriors how much they want to win the eventual series opener. They did. Now it’s on to Game 2.

Warriors, Cavs eyeing on NBA Finals

The Atlanta Hawks have been swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers 100-99 and marks the second time that these Hawks have been eliminated by a Lebron James-led basketball team for a second straight time. Atlanta is built for playing a certain pace in basketball, however they were not meant to play at a superstar’s pace like Lebron James. Toronto and Miami are tied at two games apiece and Kyle Lowry has to have big games against Dwyane Wade. Lowry in the clutch will overcome Wade’s shooting performances, I guarantee it. Wade does shoot clutch, but Lowry relies on his spacing to get off his shot. The Golden State Warriors welcome back Stephen Curry, as the Dubs beat the Portland Trail Blazers in overtime to take a 3 games to 1 series lead. As the NBA playoffs winds down to the final four, OKC wins Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead against San Antonio. I can see a Warriors-Cavs NBA Finals matchup shaping up.

East and West Conference Semifinals

We have two Game 7s between the Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets. What is it with Toronto not being able to finish Game 6 and move on? This will definitely haunt Toronto and they might be able to survive round 1 of the NBA playoffs. Miami wins Game 6 97-90 because they wouldn’t give up. They know too much about being defeated. It’s veterans like Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem that will let opponents wear down, after seeing them down. We know that Golden State will play a full game with a whole team without Stephen Curry against the Portland Trail Blazers. The Warriors probably won’t let an injury to them bother them, but it will sting playing against the San Antonio Spurs, who don’t have an injury. The Spurs will have their hands full handling Kevin Durant and his Oklahoma City Thunder.

NBA Offseason/Warriors win NBA title

The Golden State Warriors are the 2015 NBA champions and they did it by beating Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers four times in a best of seven game series. Steve Kerr’s Warriors are the golden standard of playing basketball. If only our representatives at the U.S. Men’s National Basketball team at the Olympic Games could do that feat of what the Golden State Warriors did. 80% of life is showing up, and these Warriors did do that. The Cleveland Cavaliers resigned Kevin Love to a multi-year deal and the New Orleans Pelicans inked Anthony Davis to a five-year extension. The Toronto Raptors signed DeMarre Carroll away from the Atlanta Hawks for a four year, $60 million deal and the San Antonio Spurs signed Danny Green to a 45 million dollar deal for four years.

More Games 7s coming up

Brooklyn wins Game 7 barely, 104-103 on Paul Pierce’s blocked shot of Kyle Lowry’s layup going to the basket. This has been a terrific season for the Toronto Raptors, because they had a contract year for Lowry whose value performance came right on the moment and in a season where all was on the line. The San Antonio Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks in a blow out in Game 7. The Spurs win 119-96 and the number one seed in the West will take on the fifth seeded Portland Trail Blazers in the second round. Do I smell confidence oozing out of the San Antonio Spurs? I expect the Portland Trail Blazers to give the Spurs their best effort in the West semifinals.
